We’re Falling for These Autumn Beauty Trends

Autumn is officially here! It's time for cozy layers, scarves, PSLs, floppy hats, and one-too-many Instagram pics with fallen leaves. We are dying to get in on the fall trends, but the weather is woefully stuck in summer mode (hellooo, Dallas and Phoenix heat!) If you're in the same boat, why not try some fall hair/makeup/nails trends on for size?

Hair and makeup looks from the runway and the red carpet. These are the trends you'll want to try out (from top left): Glittering accents at Altuzurra, lush lashes at Gucci, bright pops of color at Kenzo, peek-a-boo braids on Suki Waterhouse, metallic touches at Rodarte, tousled waves on Rosie, berry lips and a lob on Emma, and bare-faced beautiful at Isabel Marant.

Hair is loose, messy, and headed toward richer hues. Consider adding in some lowlights if you aren't going for the Ola look. The lob still reigns -- if you've been wanting a chop, now is the time! Add in some braids for a bit more dimension.

Makeup is glowy and minimal, with a twist. Keep your look fresh with one spunky element such as lush lashes, a dark lip, or some glittering accents.

The key to making these trends work for you IRL is choosing just one element to incorporate and letting the rest of your look fall into place. So, if you want to try out the metallic trend from Rodarte, just do the lip -- keep your eye makeup soft and neutral. If you want to try the bright pops of color from Kenzo without looking too severe, polish it off with a casual, messy 'do.

The 'bare-faced' look is by far my favorite. To avoid looking as though you just rolled out of bed, make sure your hair looks well-kept, apply a few coats of mascara, add just a bit of berry color to your lips, and DON'T skimp on the concealer. There's a big difference between minimalist makeup and actually going makeup-free!
