Styling The LBD

The LBD (Little Black Dress) is a staple item in every woman's closet. It's a classic style that, when properly accessorized, can be worn any time of day, for any season and for numerous occasions.

I recently bought a new black dress from Nasty Gal, which has a casual day-time feel. I wanted to wear it for dinner with my family, so I altered my makeup and accessories to transform the look. Thats the great thing about a LBD:  you can constantly change the look, simply by changing your accessories.

By adding a great neckless, some sassy shoes, a stack of bangles, a blazer or a colorful clutch you've created a custom LBD look. So, today I am sharing with you my favorite ways to dress up your LBD and how to pick the right accessories for the neckline, style and length of your dress!

Statement Neckless

This LBD has a classic shape and neckline. This cut is begging for an accessory like the fabulous statement neckless the model is wearing. I would wear stud earrings with this because anything dangly would overpower the look. Apply a pretty lip color like MAC Red or MAC Show Orchid and you're ready to go!

Sassy Shoes

I am loving this edgy pair of heels paired with a simple LBD like this one. This is one of my favorite necklines to wear because it is very flattering, but often looks best sans accessories. Sassy shoes are a great way to dress up your LBD and you can do that by wearing a bright color or an interesting design, such as this.

Stack of Bangles/Other Jewelry

It really is true that black goes with everything. I love all the fun jewelry paired with this look. One of my favorite ways to wear a LBD is to rock a stack of gold or silver bangles, or a chunky bracelet. I'm also a huge fan of oversized rings. BCBG has some of my favorite costume-like rings to add a pop of flare to your LBD.

Blazer

Want to rock a LBD at work? A blazer is a great accessory! You can rock a similar style to the one above in all black or add a pop of color. This is a great option if you don't want to show your arms, the weather is a bit cooler or your going for a more professional vibe.

Colorful Clutch

Adding a colorful clutch or purse to your LBD is the perfect way to complete your look! I wore my blue Rebecca Minkoff handbag with the Nasty Gal dress I mentioned above, which looked amazing next to the black and instantly dressed up the look.
