New Year, New Skin Routine

New year, new skincare routine! When I was home for winter break I decided that my current skincare routine just wasn't working for me. I started looking at the different options and decided that, because my face is on the sensitive side, I needed products that would be medical and from someone who really understands different skin conditions.

One of my favorite blemish fixers is Renee Rouleau's Anti-Cyst Treatment, so I decided to take the leap and try out an entire skincare routine of Renee Rouleau's products.

I love that Renee Rouleau has a "What's your skin type?" section, where you can take a quiz and determine what products are right for your skin.

There are nine different skin types listed on her site, with the associated symptoms. If you can't decide which one sounds right for you, take the quiz on the right hand side of the screen!

After reviewing the different options, I decided that skin type is most likely number three. I took the quiz, which confirmed my decision, and I went on a shopping spree from there!

This is what I bought...

For skin type three, there were two different options, this cleansing gel or the Aloe Cleansing Milk. The AHA/BHACleaning Gel seemed like the best option for me and I am obsessed with it! It has a citrusy smell, it's light and you only need a small amount. This cleanser is best for those with acne prone skin and, even though the main ingredient is Salicylic Acid, it is non-drying and helps with exfoliation.

Balancing Skin Tonic

The next item on my list was the Balancing Skin Tonic. This toner is alcohol-free with natural witch hazel for preventing oil and breakouts without drying sensitive skin. Steam distillation is used to create this tonic, which is supposed to purify pores that are prone to acne and blemishes. I instantly feel refreshed after applying this toner in the morning and at night!

BHA Clarifying Serum

The BHA Clarifying Serum quickly became one of my BFF's, which is no surprise, considering the fact that it is featured in Teen Vogue, Star, People, and The Zoe Report! It also won Teen Vogue's "Best Serum" award in 2014. The serum uses a blend of Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic Acid to clear clogged pores, lift discoloration and reduce acne-causing bacteria. After continual use, you should start to notice an improvement in your skin's clarity and texture.

Skin Drink

When I'm not using the clarifying serum, I am applying Skin Drink! I have combination skin but, unlike many with similar acne prone skin, my skin tends to fall on the dry side. Skin Drink is the perfect amount of hydration to keep my skin balanced and healthy. It also prevents your individual cells from losing water to create a smooth, more youthful-looking appearance. The website actually states, "'s like drinking 8 glasses of water a day delivered deep with your skin. The result? Beautiful, radiant and healthy-looking skin."

Matte Moisture

After cleansing and toning, it is important to apply the right moisturizer for your skin. Matte Moisture is oil-free and delivers the essential water needed to keep skin balanced. This moisturizer uses a blend of soothing, anti-inflammatory extracts to alleviate excessive oil production without clogging pores. I love how lightweight it feels and how fast it dries.

Daily Protection SPF 30

I am very fair, so SPF has always been an important step in my skin routine, but most people don't realize that you should be wearing it every day, rain or shine. My biggest complaint with SPF is the greasiness and odor, but the Daily Protection SPF is lightweight and unscented. It can be used as your daytime moisturizer, so you don't have to feel like your piling another layer onto your skin.

Detoxifying Mask

To complete my first round of Renee Rouleau products, I purchased the Detoxifying Mask. I love clay masks, like this one, which help treat problem skin by removing the oil and dirt that cause clogged pores, cysts and blemishes. This mask uses a mixture of Tea Tree, kaolin Clay and Basil, which have anti-bacterial properties, help absorb oil and clean out the pores.

The best word to describe Renee Rouleau's products is balance. Every product uses the right amount of ingredients to solve the problem you are trying to fix, while keeping your skin healthy overall. Her products are also natural and formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances, harsh alcohol's and etc..

My face is clearer and healthier thanks to these products and I've only been using them for a couple weeks! Head over to Renee Rouleau's site and find the perfect products to meet your skin needs.
