Easter in AZ | New Beginnings

Hey y'all! It's been awhile. 2016 has already been a year of new beginnings with its fair share of ups and downs. I thought there was no better time than spring to jump back into our blonde world, so keep reading to check out my Easter style details and a recap of what's been going on in my life <3

This was the first Easter in quite a long time that I didn't spend with Lauren and our families. Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays because, to me, it represents healthy change and new beginnings. This year, I decided to travel back to my old stomping grounds in Arizona to spend time with my sorority mom and friends.

For Easter brunch, we decided to check out The Montauk in Scottsdale. They had a live musician, a super cute east coast vibe inside and, most importantly, a delicious brunch!

I was decked out in Michael Kors for the day, opting for a belted gingham dress, a leather crossbody bag, a gold-tone bracelet and blue bangle.  Unfortunately, MK is out of the exact crossbody and bangle that I wore, so I linked to similar options on their site.

I also wore my favorite Kate Spade pearl studs and strappy Coach heels! I've been obsessed with these shoes for awhile, pairing them with plenty of fun daytime looks.

With my friends Kate, Tobi and Marisa.

I'll be honest, 2016 started out a bit rough for me. I was sick with a horrible cold on New Year's Eve and accidentally spilled boiling hot tea all over my leg, giving myself 2nd degree burns. Luckily, I'm a doctor's daughter so I knew what to do to take care of it. After wrapping it up, using Polysporin and Arnica, the skin healed after about a month. It's still discolored, so I've been putting Mederma PM on it each night. I am hoping the skin will look totally normal after a year of healing! I will refrain from posting a picture, as most of my friends gag when I show it to them ha.

Not long after my leg incident, I received news that my Poppie (what we call my mom's dad) passed away unexpectedly. I am an open book for the most part, but I tend to be very private with family matters and rarely share what's going on regarding that part of my life. Poppie was my last grandparent and I was unable to make it to my Mimmie's (his wife) funeral, so I made it a priority to be there. I'm sharing this because although it was a sad time, it was actually a very lovely trip. My sister-in-law flew out with my niece, who I hadn't seen in over a year, and we reconnected with our relatives in Iowa. It was nice to laugh and tell stories about my grandparents and my parent's upbringing. My Poppie was a very proud veteran, fighting in both WWII and the Korean War, so he received the gun salute and a really touching veteran service that I know he would have loved to see.

With my adorable 2 1/2 year-old niece!
2016 hasn't been all bad, though! I've been graduated for about two years now (not sure where that time went) and made the move to LA, so I felt it was time to get involved with my sorority again to meet new friends and give back to the organization that molded me into the woman I am today. I am now apart of the Long Beach Alumnae chapter and am super excited to say that I have been the Chapter Advisor at Pepperdine for the past four months now.

This experience has already been extremely rewarding and I am so happy with my decision to get involved again! During my collegiate years I was very active within my chapter and the greek community in general, so I am having a lot of fun connecting with this chapter and helping them grow. We wasted no time getting right into things! At the beginning of the semester I spent time with their executive board at a retreat for officer goal setting, lead a recruitment workshop and was fortunate to attend Real Leadership Academy, which is an annual conference for chapter presidents and advisors across the US and Canada to learn valuable information that we can bring back to our individual chapters.

With my amazing executive board! I am inspired by their commitment to the chapter every day <3

After my trip to Arizona I'm feeling refreshed and excited to share what Lauren and I have been working on in the past few months, so I hope you're all ready for more blonde adventures, tips and tricks in the coming weeks! <3
