4th of July Fun | Shop the Looks

I have a hard time staying in one place for too long, but this year I had a blast celebrating the 4th of July holiday with friends in LA. After living out here for a year, I finally feel like I have a solid social scene and am having fun exploring all over the city.

Check out my style inspo, from my Olive & June mani/pedi to my Nordstrom American flag swimsuit.

When it comes to beauty, my nails are usually the last thing I think about. I've gone months without getting them done, but I've been trying to get better at regularly going in and taking supplements to help them grow long and strong.

A holiday is the perfect excuse for a fun mani/pedi so I made my way over to Olive and June in Beverly Hills. I decided on electric blue with silver sparkles for my manicure and classic red for my pedicure.

Gotta get a good Snapchat selfie!
Is there anything better than these Tory Burch flats? They've exploded in popularity over the past couple of years for good reason; They're cute, comfortable and easy to slip on! I have these in so many colors, but this is my first pair in patent leather. I highly recommend getting the patent leather, as they are easier to clean and won't be destroyed if they get a little wet.

To start off my holiday weekend, a friend of mine came up for a day of shopping on Melrose and Sunset and a dinner at SUR. We love RHOBH and Vanderpump Rules, so we've been wanting to check out one of Lisa's restaurants for awhile. I have to say that it definitely lived up to expectations! We had a great (and cute) server who helped us make a decision on our drink/dinner selections, as there were so many yummy options to choose from!

A quick selfie before shopping ;)

Style Breakdown:

I'll do a makeup post sometime soon to show y'all my everyday routine, but I pretty much always wear the same MAC Cosmetics foundation. The older I get, the more I fully embrace my paleness ha, so I use one of their lightest shades, NW10. I've tried a lot of foundations, but I always come back to MAC as it's a pretty perfect match for my cool-toned skin and exactly the amount of coverage I want/like. I'm also wearing one of my recent favorite lip colors, YSL's Rouge Voulupt√© Shine #14.

My friend/sorority sister Tina came up for the weekend from Orange County and she's wearing a dress from Isabelle's Cabinet, a cute boutique in Seal beach. Great minds think alike ;) so we're wearing the the same Tory Burch Miller Sandals, although hers are black patent. She's also rocking her go-to Ray-Ban sunnies

Snapchat fun on our way to dinner. Being Basic with the flower crown filter!
Super pretty aesthetic in SUR. I loved this giant piece of art behind Tina!

Ok so this mirror picture of me isn't the most flattering, but I am loving the bodysuit trend right now. This Tai Ribbed Bodysuit is from Nasty Gal and it can be worn so many different ways. For a night out, I wore this with my high waisted skinny jeans and Michael Kors Josephine leather wedges.

More Snapchat fun as we waited for everyone to arrive! Follow me: @torystangl

Now for the actual 4th of July...

The majority of our festivities happened the night before, so we had a pretty chill 4th hanging out with some of our friends from college at Manhattan Beach. We drove up Mulholland drive when it was dark outside and watched the fireworks going off throughout the city. It was kind of cool to see them scattered about, but we were much higher up than the actual fireworks so it was hard to see them.

I have to say that I definitely miss the celebrations we had in Kansas. You know when the holiday is coming up, because there are fireworks tents on every corner. My dad always bought a bunch and would light them off in front of our house. In LA, there are a lot of places where fireworks aren't allowed, so your options are to either spend money watching a show someone has put together or to find a high enough lookout point to watch them.

Style Breakdown:

I am all about a one-piece swimsuit, so I was super excited when I spotted this American flag suit from Nordstrom. I ordered it online, so I was a little nervous about how it would fit, but I bought a size up and that was perfect! Speaking of cute one-piece suits, Tina picked up this star-tastic Nasty Gal 'Born in the U.S.A' scoop swimsuit!

I bought this Kate Spade floral picnic blanket for my next Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, but it's been perfect for our beach outings!

When we were shopping, I spotted these Quay All My Love reflective shades from Nasty Gal and it's safe to say that they're already one of my new go-to pairs. Sunglasses are easily my favorite accessory. My mom would tell you that I own too many, but I would say that I definitely don't have enough :)

Of course, no 4th of July look is complete without a red lip, so I'm wearing the classic MAC Red shade that Lauren I recently talked about in our top 10 favorite MAC lipsticks post.

I hope y'all had a fun and safe 4th of July! I can't believe we're already almost halfway through the month. Time flies when you're having fun!
